Udayan Shalini Girls Fellowship

This five-year Fellowship program is for adolescent girls studying in Government Inter colleges, in Barabanki. Every year, 30 students are selected for the Fellowship. The first batch of 30 students was launched in November'23, by Ms. Neha Bydwal (IAS), ADM-BBK. Second batch of 31 students was launched on 4th October'24. The Fellows are selected based on Needs, Aspiration and Talent (NAT) of students. The Fellows are for less provileged socio-economic background and many are first generation learners. The Fellowship has four components.

Scholarship

Scholarship amount of INR 10,000/- per year, is transferred directly into bank accounts of the selected Fellows.

Monthly Workshops

Monthly workshops are held on the topics such as, values, communication skills, health, hygiene, career guidance, financial literacy, etc. The workshops are conducted by expert Resource Persons. UPDATE: 12 workshops have been conducted, since launch of the program in November 2023.

Mentoring

The Fellows receive guidance from accomplished individuals. On an average, each MENTOR is assigned three MENTESS. The Mentors  are committed and compassionate individuals and they conduct monthly in-person sessions with their Mentees and keep in touch over weekly phone calls. Their role is to provide life-skills, personality development and motivate for studies.

Give-back

One of the objectives of the Fellowship is cultivate compassion, social-sensitivity and an attitude to give-back to society. With this objective, the Fellows are involved in social-work activties. In this context, the Fellows are being involved to set-up rural library and conduct book reading activities with children coming to the library.
